Fast Hands, Quick Angles
Setup: Groups of five in a 20×20m box, one ball, everyone moving. This warms the hands and the support angles the whole night runs on. Build the tempo in gears.
How it works: Hand-passing on the move, but with a rule that forces good angles: after you pass you must sprint past the receiver on an overlap or loop to stay in the play, so nobody stands and admires their pass. Rising tempo across the block until the ball is zipping and the support runs are automatic. Add a defender or two in the last rounds to make the angles real. By the end the group should be moving the ball fast and always offering an extra man off the shoulder — the exact habits that pick a blanket defence apart.
What to say
- “Pass and go — the moment you release, sprint to support, never stand and watch.”
- “Give an angle, not a straight line — support off the shoulder, not behind the ball.”
- “Fast hands out of contact — the ball beats a packed defence quicker than any solo.”
Easier
Remove the defenders and keep the runs to simple overlaps while the tempo builds.
Harder
Add a two-touch limit so the ball must move first-time and the runs must arrive on time.
